Asking for additional submission information

On Step 7, Additional information when setting up submissions you can:

1. Create custom questions 
2. Create new tabs which enables you to separate custom question on different steps, grouped by theme
3. Rename tabs by hovering over them and clicking on the Edit pencil
4. Edit existing questions
5. Disable custom questions
6. Remove custom questions. This will permanently delete the question and any information previously collected within the question.

Adding a custom question:

After clicking Add a Question, select the type of question to ask about each submission. 

• Answer: A short answer 
• Explain: A paragraph answer
• Choose: A dropdown of options
• Agree: A checkbox to agree with a statement
• File Upload: An upload of a file
  
  

When configuring your custom questions, you can:

• Name your question.
• Provide instructions on answering your question.
• Possibly set information like file type or word limit, depending on the question
• Set if your question is required or optional.
• Set if the answer should be visible to reviewers or not - this is helpful to ensure you do not share personal information with reviewers
• If the question is a file upload question collecting PDFs only, you can ensure the PDF is anonymised for your blind review. 

Additional question tabs:

You may have many questions to ask a group of authors, and that can make the workflow feel very busy. Not to worry! You can create tabs for different question types. 

1. Click the + to add in a new tab on Step 7: Additional Information
2. You can rename the new tab by hovering over it and clicking the edit pencil. 
3. You can now add questions to your new tab.
   
   

The end result for authors will be answering questions on two different steps, making the workflow lighter and easier to follow.
