You may want to assign specific reviewers to your submissions, rather than use the Ex Ordo allocation. This article walks through the process of making all review assignments manually.
There are 5 steps to take before you can manually assign reviewers to submissions.
- Complete the Configure Review menu (must be completed before you can set up your marking scheme)
- Complete the Setup Marking Scheme menu
- Complete the Configure Acceptance menu
- Add Reviewers and either assign topics to them or invite them to pick their own topics
Step 1: Allocate submissions to Reviewers
Navigate to the Reviews hub and ensure you are viewing the List of Submissions. Click the Allocate Submissions button.

Step 2: Clear the allocation
Select all submissions using the top checkbox in the List of Submissions. Then, click the Clear Allocation button.

Step 4: Manually assign reviewers to submissions
You can now click on the No Reviewer slots and manually choose a reviewer. See this article for full details.
Step 5: Open the review
When you are happy with the review assignments, you can open the review.
