# Allocating submissions to reviewers

There are 4 main steps to be completed before you can allocate or skip the review. 

- Complete the [Configure Review](https://help.exordo.com/configuring-review?hsLang=en) menu (must be completed before you can set up your marking scheme)
- Complete the [Setup Marking Scheme](https://help.exordo.com/setting-up-the-marking-scheme?hsLang=en) menu
- Complete the [Configure Acceptance](https://help.exordo.com/setting-up-decision-types?hsLang=en) menu
- If needed, [Add Reviewers](https://help.exordo.com/adding-reviewers?hsLang=en) and either [assign topics to them](https://help.exordo.com/updating-a-reviewers-topics?hsLang=en) or [invite them to pick their own topics](https://help.exordo.com/inviting-reviewers-to-choose-their-topics?hsLang=en)

### Allocating submissions to reviewers:

1. Go to the **Reviews** hub
2. Ensure you are viewing the **List of Submissions**
3. Locate the **Allocate** button
   
   **IMPORTANT**! If you have tracks enabled and are allocating track by track, please ensure you are looking at the correct track before taking this action.

4. Click on the **Allocate** button. You will see a pop-up with information about this action. Click **Yes, Allocate** to continue or **No, Cancel** if you are not ready.
5. The system will work on making assignments after you click **Yes, Allocate**. This may take some time, depending on the number of submissions. Grab a cup of tea and check back in a little later! If needed.
6. Once the allocation is complete, you can [edit the allocation.](https://help.exordo.com/editing-your-allocation?hsLang=en)
7. . You can also [clear the allocation](https://help.exordo.com/manually-matching-reviewers-with-submissions?hsLang=en) if you want to make manual assignments or have review group chairs make manual assignments.
8. You can then open the Review when ready! Check out below for details on opening your review.

### Re-allocating submissions to reviewers:

**Warning!** 

Re-allocating submissions will permanently remove the previous review assignments. 

You may be unhappy with the allocation results for whatever reason. Not to worry! You can re-allocate by following the steps below.

1. Go to the **Reviews** hub
2. Ensure you are viewing the **List of Submissions**
3. Locate the **Re-allocate Submissions** button
   
   **IMPORTANT**! If you have tracks enabled and are allocating track by track, please ensure you are looking at the correct track before taking this action.

4. Click on the **Re-allocate Submissions** button. You will see a pop-up with information about this action. Click **Yes, Re-allocate Submissions** to continue or **No, Cancel** if you are not ready.
5. The system will work on making assignments after you click **Yes, Allocate**. This may take some time, depending on the number of submissions. Grab a cup of tea and check back in a little later! If needed.
