Setting the submission type and format in Initial Submissions
Step 2 of the Configure Initial Submissions workflow allows you to:
- choose what type of content you collect from authors (abstract text in one or more boxes, a file upload, or both)
- allow authors to indicate the format in which they wish to present (optional)
Warning! Contact support@exordo.com before making changes to step 2 if you have collect real submissions.
Setting the Type of content you will collect:
There are 3 options related to what you need to collect from authors. You can choose one of the following:
- Abstract: enables you to collect text in one or more abstract boxes and enable or disable a file upload. Authors will see a button requesting them to 'Submit your Abstract'.
- Papers: enables you to collect text in one or more abstract boxes and enable or disable a file upload. Authors will see a button requesting them to 'Submit your Paper'.
- Extended Abstracts: This option only asks the author to insert the title and upload an extended abstract as a file attachment. There are no abstract text fields with this option. Authors will see a button requesting them to 'Submit your Extended Abstract'.

Managing submission formats:
You can choose to:
- give authors a preference for what format they would like to present, if accepted.
- This is a preference only. If an author selects 'Oral Presentation', you can accepted them as a poster or not accept the submission.
- give authors no preference by offering a single format only. Uncheck all formats except for one. You can name the remaining format 'All Submissions'.
Important note for sites with Panels:
If you are using the Panels Feature, you should not add Panel or Panel Contribution to the formats sections. These formats are generated by the system by default.
Please only add the format options that should be available to authors on individual submissions.
