Beta Feature: Editable Abstract Sections

This beta feature is not enabled on all platforms. Please reach out to support@exordo.com to learn more.

Editable abstract sections enables you to

  • create multiple abstract fields
  • manage settings for each field, such as the word count and making them required or optional
  • add instructions to each field, which can help your authors better understand what you need
  • set an overall word limit which applies across all fields
  • re-order the fields
  • collect files alongside your abstracts

Creating and modifying abstract fields

First, navigate into the Initial Submissions hub and open the Configure Initial Submissions menu. Go to Step 3: Abstract Sections. Here you can:

  • click to Add an Abstract Section
  • Edit an abstract section
  • Disable an abstract section
  • Delete an abstract section
    • Important! Deleting an abstract section will permanently delete all content within it.
  • Move an abstract section my clicking on the 8 dots to the left of the section name

Word limit settings:

There are two word count options: an overall word limit and an abstract field word limit. These two settings work together. For example, you may need:

  • 500 words total across all abstract sections
  • only 50 words for the introduction
  • 200 words for methodology
  • 200 words for conclusion
  • 50 words for references

You will find the overall word limit underneath the area that you can add and edit abstract sections.

You can set individual abstract section word limits when editing the section.

Collecting attachments on the abstract step:

You can also collect files from authors on this step, such as images and PowerPoints. There are two very important things to consider:

  • Uploading a file here will always be optional. Do not request required files here.
  • PDFs collected on this step cannot be pulled into the Ex Ordo book. If you are collecting PDFs to appear in the Ex Ordo book that you have purchased, you must collect them on the File Formats step.

You can choose to enable attachment collection, how many files authors can upload, and the type of files you are happy to accept.

You can export abstract attachments in bulk by:

  1. Navigating to the Conference hub
  2. Selecting the uploaded files tab
  3. Exporting the Abstract Attachments file
