The Support team at Ex Ordo can build your book of abstracts or papers (for an additional cost) through a semi automated process. Essentially, you choose your preferences for the book through a form we send to you. Based on your choices, we create the book for you using our own book building software, compiling it with the abstract/paper content from your conference. Book building process
If you would like to build your book with Ex Ordo and you have not yet purchased the book service you can contact the Sales team to learn more about pricing.
If you have already purchased the book as part of your Ex Ordo package, the Customer Success team will share the book form with you about a month before your conference. We use this form to collect your book preferences and share the first draft with you. Please feel free to reach out to support@exordo.com and request the form if you need to start earlier.
What Ex Ordo content can appear in the book?
You may choose to create a book of abstracts, proceedings or both.
- Abstracts: the content in the text box on your platform
- Proceedings: uploaded files, must be in PDF format!
- Both: you could have a chapter of abstracts followed by a chapter of proceedings
In terms of formatting PDFs for your authors, below are a few key points to keep in mind.
- all papers must be uploaded as PDFs to pull into the book
- it is definitely ok to have images and graphs in the PDFs! They look great in the book.
- authors should not add page numbers to their PDFs
- each submission has one PDF that will pull into the book. So, your authors may need to combine their paper and Powerpoint slides on a single PDF document if you want all of that content to appear in the book.
What else is customisable in the book?
There are many things you can customise in the book! Some ideas you can consider include:
- adding custom PDF pages to your book (e.g., cover pages, sponsor pages, information about the organisers, etc.)
- Creating chapters (or not!). We can separate chapters in order of your programme or by track, topic or decision format
- what information do you want to appear at the top of each submission? Only author names? Possibly programme details like the day/time the work will be presented?
- do you want a Table of Contents and an Author Index? If not, we can remove them from the book.
- do you want the content to follow the order of your schedule; or appear in A-Z order by title?
